Esprit Football Academy welcome latest staff member Steve Lister

Esprit FA are delighted to announce the arrival of its newest staff member Steve Lister. 

Originally from Doncaster, Stephen has travelled the globe delivering coach education courses on behalf of the English FA and the Professional footballers association, working with grassroots coaches and coaches in the professional game alike. Having played professionally in over 500 league and cup games at various levels his experiences as a professional footballer in England combined with his experience as a ‘Senior Coach Educator’ globally, have strongly influenced his passion for development, combining football development with education.

Stephen is a UEFA A Licensed Qualified coach and also a Coach Education qualified tutor/assessor to UEFA B level. He acts as lead mentor to hundreds of coaches around the world in places such as the UAE, Malaysia and Japan.




Esprit Scholar Rafael Anastasious has attracted interest and just returned to the Academy after trialing at Premier League outfit Fulham FC, Leicester FC, and Doncaster Rovers FC. 2 other Esprit Scholars also trialed at Doncaster Rovers FC.

1st year Scholars are about to undertake their level 1 UEFA C Licence the week commencing 7th April also.

Esprit Football Academy pair enjoy a weeklong trial at Wrexham F.C


Esprit duo Zan Eibig and Szabolcs Rutai continued the tradition of the Academies great success in developing players good enough to be recommended and requested for trials.

With the successes of last season’s Academy players who went out on trial at clubs fresh in their mind, Zan and Szabolcs were keen to get to North Wales and utilise the knowledge that they have gained this season so far.

The pair trained with both youth team and reserve team members and gained valuable experience with both players thoroughly enjoying their time at Wrexham Football Club.

“Joey (Joey Jones, Youth team and Reserve team manager) is a fantastic coach, and it has been great to work with a man who has won nearly everything there is to be won in football.”  Zan Eibig.

Joey Jones added “The lads from Esprit were a credit to their Academy and I will be watching them closely when we play them in a couple of weeks.”


Esprit Football Academies hectic schedule continues.

Esprit Football Academy have undertaken a hectic two month period which saw them take the field against opposition such as Sunderland F.C, Barnsley F.C, Hull City F.C, Peterborough, Chesterfield, Grimsby, and South Notts. Here are a few of the pics.

With the domestic season drawing to a close 5 of Esprit Football Academy scholars have been rewarded with trials at Football League Clubs and International Football League Clubs.

After impressing in a previous fixture against Huddersfield Town F.C. Ben Hampson and Jermaine Wilson have been asked to attend training, and play in end of season fixtures for the Terriers with a view to being signed.

Ben Shedwick, who has been consistent all season for Esprit, has been rewarded with a trial at Bradford City F.C, with the conclusion that he returns for pre-season with them. Ben has also had interest from numerous Non-League clubs.

David Taylor, who has been with Darlington F.C. for a number of weeks already, and Sory Dembele, have attracted the attention of a whole host of English and International clubs, and are awaiting dates for them to attend trials.







Esprit Football Academy Host League opposition on Saturday as Fulham F.C. visit the Keepmoat for a fixture played on the main Stadium pitch. Come and watch, its free admission and also gives you the opportunity to find out how you can become one of the next generation of Esprit Scholars.




Esprit Football Academy is delighted to announce that David Taylor has been invited to demonstrate that he has the capabilities to succeed at Darlington F.C. After a host of outstanding performances, against Academy, and Center of Excellence opposition, David has been rewarded with a trial at Craig Liddle's Conference outfit.

After impressing in the first encounter Rotherham united F.C were again our opponents in a return fixture.

Having flown in 3 days earlier, American Soccer Academy, Darlington (Georgia) were next to visit the Keepmoat Stadium.

Monday 6th February

Esprit Football Academy embark on a 3 day trip to Scotland where they will fulfil a  fixture against SPL side Glasgow Rangers

(All fixtures and events will be updated on a regular basis)


Part 2 of the Pennine cross saw the Academy decend on the Etihad for Manchester City's Europa League clash against Sporting Lisbon.


Old Trafford home of Manchester United F.C  was part 1 of a double excursion accross the Pennines, where the Academy scholarswere given the full Ground and Museum tour.

Esprit Welcomes Mick Buxton 

Esprit Football Academy is delighted to announce that Mick Buxton has joined the Academy as Technical Advisor. Mick's vast experience as a player and manager for teams including Huddersfield Town, Burnley and Sunderland means he is a highly respected coach in English football.

Also helping to develop and monitor the Premier League academy system, Mick has a wealth of experience to pass onto our football scholars, ensuring they can learn from one of the best coaches in the business.


PFCA Partners with Esprit Football Academy 

Esprit Football Academy has formed a partnership with the Professional Footballers’ Coaches Association to ensure that the academy coaching programmes are world-class. The PFCA will work in association with Esprit to offer continued support and development for all the academy coaches to ensure they remain at the cutting edge of football development.

Commenting on the partnership, PFCA Chairman Dave Richardson said: "We are delighted to be working with Esprit and have been extremely impressed with the quality of its programmes, management and coaching staff. The academy offers aspiring young footballers a fantastic opportunity to develop a career in football."


Esprit Football Academy teams up with Doncaster College 

Esprit Football Academy has joined forces with Doncaster College, which will provide all of the education programmes offered by the Academy. There are a number of qualification options for football scholars, from BTECs to full degrees, and this new partnership will see these courses delivered by professional lecturers at Doncaster College.

This venture will mean that students will not only benefit from the excellent teaching standards provided by the College, but they will also have access to the full student resources available including the library, Students Union, IT resource rooms, counselling services, canteens and prayer rooms.


Esprit Football Academy partners with the Keepmoat Stadium 

Esprit Football Academy has formed a partnership with the Keepmoat Stadium, in the idyllic Lakeside complex of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, in the heartland of English and UK football and home to Championship team, Doncaster Rovers and FA Womens’ Super League club, the Doncaster Rovers Belles.

Esprit Football Academy have sponsored the awe-inspiring Soccer Centre and will be utilising the excellent facilities at the stadium. Commenting on the partnership, Managing Director of Esprit Football Academy, Alistair Boyd-Meaney, said: "We are delighted to be working with the Keepmoat Stadium Management Group.
